Shoprite hawkers

I've just cone from the Shoprite on corner Pritchard and Von Brandis. They did not allow me to purchase my goods because I don't have a loyalty card and do not want one. I was told by the manager to either join or leave. In what world should I be forced to join a scheme before I can make a purchase with MY money?
