Shoprite Eldorado Park must fall

Good day It saddens me that I have to inform you of the atrocious treatment I have received today at your above-mentioned branch. I visited your store on 05 January 2020, after quite a lot of stationary was purchased on the 04 February 2020 by my kids support. I have received a photo of the receipt and displayed this to the Supervisor, Rebecca on the day. Not really willing to assist and demanded the original slip, I informed her that I do not have the original but a copy and that I would not be afforded the original slip for obvious maintenance reasons. The stock was bought at Shoprite Midrand. Rebecca then agreed to assist me and requested that I print the receipt as she needs to attach it to the invoice she needs to complete and issue for my refund. I returned today, two days later, I was first told by another supervisor, Rozelle Ribbert, Rabecca was off. I presented my good I needed refunded, explained my situation and showed her the print of the receipt, she took the receipt and walked away. Came back after a few minutes, very abruptly tells me"sorry, you will have to go to Midrand to exchange it there is nothing they can do for me. She does not make the decisions, she takes her orders from her manager Emma Williams”. Not allowing me to speak or ask a question, kept telling me she is sorry but she can’t do anything about it. I asked her what their return policy is and why Rebecca would tell me to make a print of the receipt and come back and this is now the story. Rozelle said she can’t speak for Rebecca, she may be on lunch or in the receiving…but she just said Rebecca was off. I asked Rozelle, how am I to get to Shoprite Midrand to return the good, she told me that that is unfortunately my problem. I am so tired of these people/leaders in Shoprite Eldorado Park and their ugly, filthy manners, how they treat people in the community. They have no regard, no respect, no self-respect, no integrity, no customer centricity, no patience, no professionalism and absolutely no passion for the people in the area. Do they think so little to nothing about everyone who walks in the store to make a purchase forgetting that should no one walk in there…there won’t be a salary for them? Now… no 1. This is in complete violation of the Unfair Business Practices Act (1988). Which was designed to provide for the prohibition or control of certain business practices that either harm the relations between business and consumer, unreasonably prejudices any consumer, deceives any consumer, or unfairly affects any consumer.

No 2… Even though you have a return policy, which you do not comply with, A supplier of goods may dictate the terms and conditions of sale and include the returns policy applicable however, the Consumer Protection Act (the CPA) always apply irrespective of the store refund policy.

No 3… In accordance to the Consumer Protection Act, goods may be returned if the condition of the returned good comply to the Imp**** Warranty of Quality - Conform Section 56 of the CPA imposes a built-in or automatic warranty that all goods sold should comply with the requirements listed in Section 55, namely: • that they are reasonably suitable for the purposes for which they are generally intended; • that they are of good quality, in good working order and free of any defects; • that they will be useable and durable (i.e. will last) for a reasonable period of time; • that they comply with the Standards Act No. 24 of 1945 or other applicable public regulations; and • that they are reasonably suitable for the specific purpose that the consumer wants to use them for

All the items comply, they are in their original packaging, not used, have not been tempered with..but…sadly this was not even verified.

No 4… One of your Mission is your commitment to your customers as stipulated below and found on your website, landing page. Our Customer Commitment Our customers’ shopping experience is what our business is all about and we aspire to: • treat every customer with respect, no matter the amount of the sale, **This did not happen** • treat the customer as an individual, not as a sale, **This did not happen** • satisfy any reasonable expectation a customer might have, **This did not happen** • take time to understand the customer’s needs, **This did not happen** • take responsibility to ensure every problem is dealt with to a satisfactory conclusion, **This did not happen** • only make promises we intend to keep, **This did not happen**

No 5…. Your other Mission.. Fair treatment is important in our business For our Group fair treatment is a matter of principle and not compliance and we take pride in our efforts to ensure that each and every customer is fairly treated. We support the United Nation’s International Guidelines for Consumer Protection and in South Africa we uphold the Consumer Goods and Services Industry Code and also participate in the Ombud Scheme and use these as minimum standards for our own internal policy.

• , **This did not happen** - What Fair Treatment to who? Finally…point no 6… This is obviously not a global campaign and on this side of life, we are treated the ****, and this is sadly my second complaint in the last 3 weeks.

My Question...What are you going to do about this?
