Shoprite doesn't care about their customers

On the 1st of January this year I went to shoprite Middestad mall in Bloemfontein to get some groceries. I went in, bought a few items and then left the store. When I got home I unpacked what I bought and then when I opened the maize meal I found tons of worms swimming inside the bag and in the maize meal itself. I didn't have money to go back to town so I decided to borrow R24 for taxi as I thought shoprite should acknowledge their fault and then refund my maize meal and the R24 taxi fare I used to return it. When I got there, their supervisor(Chantal) told me that they will refund/exchange the maize meal but as far as the the taxi fare is concerned it is none of their business. I didn't like the way she responded so I asked to meet the manager and they sent me to him(Thabiso Fama). When I got to him and explained my story he said to me I should have called the store and he would have brought my money or another bag of maize meal to the location at my place as I can see he is just sitting in his office doing nothing. So what they were actually telling me was that I should either take the refund and use it for taxi to go back home without the maize meal or I should take the replacement maize meal and walk all the way home from town to the location where I stayed. I couldn't believe what they told me so I left the money and the maize meal right there and walked back home. A few days later still not hearing anything from them, I decided to contact their head office and I was issued with a reference number via email. It's been 3 weeks now since I got issued with a stupid reference number and no one has bothered to call me or even email me with updates of the inquiry. I am very disappointed with how shoprite handles their customers and to think that I buy there every week and they couldn't even bother to apologise for their expired product. very disappointed shem
