Shocking service from a Shoprite manager
Went to shoprite to get a certain brand of mouth wash, but then when I got to the tills the ques were too long which makes sense because its a weekend after pay day for many people so people were out to get groceries. So because the Kiosk (not money market) was empty and I only had two items on my hands I decided it would be just quick and convenient for everyone to just pay up at the kiosk. The cashier refused to take my payment, I then asked for a pack of sweets, she then went on to hit the sweets on her till and when I asked her to hit my two other items so that I can pay at once she told me that she will only hit and process only what I bought from the kiosk, I then asked for a manager, she then called some lady with blond uncombed hair, who was not even wearing a name tag, and did not bother to introduce herself to me, I then still had to ask for her name.
This woman (so called manager) who said her name was 'zandi' after I asked for her name, then just looked at me and told me that I have to go back to que at the tills(despite me only having just two items on my hands) and when I asked about my packet of sweets that I wanted to buy at the kiosk, she just told me that she will bring my sweets to the till. I then just left that 100ml mouth wash and the 200g cheese on that counter and just left because clearly no one wanted to serve me at this shoprite store.
I wonder how many items have been left at that counter because of such a lack of convenience.
What really disturbs me about this situation is that the kiosk was empty, I really don't understand why customers would be left to stand in long ques when there is a till and cashier with no customers paying at (especially as Shoprite brands itself as a store that values its customers). What makes the till at kiosk different from all the other tills in the shop for a customer who only has two small items to pay for? As for the untidy manager with blond uncombed hair and no name tag how unprofessional is that? Shoprite really needs to improve on customer service.
