SHAME ON YOU. VERY DISAPPOINTING SERVICE.

Very saddened writing this review. My mother lives in Kwathema Springs close to the Shoprite in Shabangu street KwaThema. Due to the close proximity to our home, we are repeated clients of buying at that Shoprite store. On the 25th October 2016, my mother while shopping at the Shoprite slipped and fell due to a spill on the floor at the store. The workers noted the incident and allowed my mother to lodge a grievance. My mother is 74 years old this year, and now due to this injury, has incurred permanent knee injury and lives in pain daily. Post the incident she went to the doctor who confirmed the accident. This was subsequently submitted to Shoprite management by the Manager of the store at time. After many repeated enquiries, the manager of the store told my mother that the feedback was for her to let Shoprite know how they can help her going forward, of which my mother did. On the 7th June 2018 I received a very obnoxious letter by email from Mrs W Rieken of Jardine Lloyd Thompson on behalf of Shoprite saying amongst other things "After having investigated the incident with our client we regret to advise that they cannot accept liability for your injury, seeing as their liability policy is to only respond in cases where they have displayed negligence. Our client considers the cleanliness of their store of paramount importance and to this effect, they even employ the services of an outsourced cleaning company. They confirmed that all staff were on duty that day and in addition, one of the cleaning company staff was in the adjoining aisle when the slip occurred" . I find this quite insulting to say the least, till today the workers at the store are shocked as to this claim. if this was true, why was my mother given feedback to tell Shoprite how they can help her going forward? and Why would the Manager of the store have taken the trouble to report something that was not witnessed by anyone at the store. I will not give up for this fight. I am the one footing the bill for my mother's injuries now. I really take exception to the fact that Shoprite is calling my mother a ****. SHAME ON YOU.
