****** in a Supermarket
From: Ron Kinnear [mailto:***] Sent: 05 February 2021 02:18 PM To: Ron Kinnear <***> Subject: Kevin ******
Kevin Kinnear was ****** in your Shoprite Pretoria North store today February 3, 2021 at approximately 10:50am. Three men cornered him. In the scuffle Kevin was thrown onto the floor. They ransacked him and got away with his pension money he drew earlier today. The customers who witnessed the incident carried on as normal. One came to help him get up. Kevin is a cripple and has great difficulty walking. A gentleman whom Kevin thought to be a staff member was indifferent when Kevin told him what happened. The cashier Zandile Zibi where Kevin paid for his purchases told him that other ******ies also occurred in the store today! (She later changed her story to “another lady” also reported to her that she was ******”. What is disconcerting is the fact that your camera person mentioned that something similar occurred yesterday. Your cashier did not report Kevin's incident to management. She also let Kevin leave without referring him to management, security or asking him if he needed help. Nomsa your back floor manager knew nothing about the incident that took place yesterday neither what happened today. She said that managers do not share information with each other. The cameras seems outdated as it did not pick up this incident. Shocking. Your security is sadly lacking. From the security operating on the floor to management there is a big gap in your operation. Kevin left your store in a state of shock. No one offered any form of assistance. The car guard assisted Kevin and helped him to become more composed. Sad state of affairs. Please note that I fetched Kevin from home. I brought him back to your store and made your management aware of the shocking state of your security. They assisted with getting the video clip. Unfortunately your camera did not pick this incident up as mentioned earlier. Your security is sadly lacking. The cashiers seem to be poorly trained. Zandile admitted she was trained by security but failed to report at least two cases. Her story changed “from five people ******” to “another lady that was ******”. On questioning her she said that the lady who reported this to her also left in a state of shock. No one cared! The head of security said that there were no incidents today. He must have been sleeping? Hello Peter will hear about this. I will encourage senior citizens to rather avoid your store in Pretoria North. What is amazing is that it is common knowledge that Pretoria North is a hotspot for crime. Especially in Ben Viljoen Street between Rachel de Beer and Gerrit Maritz Streets. Your staff mentioned it too. Yet inside your store there seems to be indifference. Two people ****** probably by the same three ******s in close succession on the same day in the same store with a cashier knowing what was happening and did not sound an alarm speaks of gross indifference and negligence!
