Racial Treatment at Lyttelton Shoprite by Thamaga Baby On the Tuesday the 23 of April 2019 around 17:45 I went to Shoprite Lyttelton after work to buy bread and ****ins as I part of my daily routine. To my arrival at Shoprite I went to pick up the bread processed to pick up the ****ins while on my way out I sow one at the bakery having lot of ****ins marking them down. I then went to her and asked if in deed marking those ****ins down, she reply by saying yes and asked me to wait because she still busy. I waited for her to finish but while she was still busy, a white woman and a child came also and they told her that she wants the ****ins, she took the ****ins and gave immediately and I became very surprise because she said to me I should wait for her to finish. I then asked her why she told to wait but immediately gave those other customers that found me waiting. She rep**** with attitude and said, “You have your own hands you can take for yourself”. I then asked her for her name she refuse to give me, I looked closer to her name tag and sow the name Thamaga Baby. I told her it is very offensive what she did and asked her was it because they were white or what else because you told me to wait and when I ask you, you are saying I should take for myself. She said I can go to the manager and complain and start laughing at me. I went to the manager and informed her about the incident and she **** and said she told me to take for myself and gave the other customer because they were with a child. While we were talking about this in the manager’s office she was giving a body language that she does not care and nothing will happen to her and indeed nothing happen to her, because she apologized to the manager not to me and not me and not until the manager asked not to apologize to her twice but to me. I daily buy bread and ****ins at Shoprite on my way from work to prepare breakfast the next day for my kids and believe it is not the first I encountered an incident like that from the same lady. A bit similar incident happens few weeks before mine with these another four constructions looking man and do not believe that they did report her or the incident. NB: I took that she gave the other customer because they were white and I was black irrespective that they found me waiting for her to finish as I was told by her to wait. My money and the other customer money is the same and we all use rand to buy but I very offended by this THAMAGA BABY at Lyttelton Shoprite. She need to be exposed and if is Shoprite that allowed racial treatment then Shoprite lyttelton also need to be expose that our money is not the same in that store.

Shoprite have cameras at that bakery location and viewing them will prove my story and I also recorded the discussions we have together with the manager.
