Price on Display not the Price Charged

<p>On Saturday 3 September we decided to purchase a mini kettle braai from Shoprite with a price of R 179.99 displayed on the box as well as the shelf.</p> <p> </p> <p>At the till when scanning the item, the price was R 199.99.</p> <p>I then requested to still pay the R 179.99 as was indicated on the box as well as the shelf.</p> <p>The cashier then called the "store manager" who took about 10minutes to talk to us. He then removed the price sticker from the box and said we have to pay R 199.99 as the special on the braai is over.</p> <p>I wanted to take a photo of the box with the R 179.99 price, but Godfrey tried to remove the sticker. My husband then took the box and took a picture with his phone.</p> <p> </p> <p>I then asked him when the special was over and why the price stickers were not removed from the boxes and the shelf, when he claimed that they forgot.</p> <p> </p> <p>I then asked to speak to the store manager as the person "assisting" us - Godfrey (I'm unable to remember his surname) - had a name tag with the job title "shelf packer" and not store manager as he claimed he was.</p> <p> </p> <p>According to the CPA; "If there is an error in the price, the supplier cannot insist that the consumer pay a higher price for the goods or services than the one they display. If more than one price is displayed, the consumer is not required to pay the higher of the two prices displayed."</p> <p> </p> <p>Godfrey acknowledged the above.</p> <p> </p> <p>In this case the price on the item itself as well as the price on the shelf was R 179.99 but Godfrey insisted I pay R 199.99 for the kettle braai.</p> <p> </p> <p>I then proceeded to pay the R 199.99 as I was in a hurry and was not given proper assistance at the store. I asked for a contact number or e-mail where I can forward my complaint but they were "unable to provide" this information.</p> <p> </p> <p>Proof of the above available upon request.</p>
