Overpricing of vat

I went to shoprite on the 10/10/2023 to buy lunch box things for my kids which the total amounted to 427 including R55.70 vat. So basically my things cost 370. I ended up paying R590 in total with another 163.05 vat again added on my total payment. I didn’t notice then because I was in a hurry when I got home unpacking all the items I remembered that I payed 590 which I wanted to recalculate and see which items costed me more. I went back to shoprite to enquire about my overpriced items and they told me they can’t check which items made the vat amount so high. I was very disappointed because most of the items where on special so how is possible to be overcharged so much it simply shows that shoprite is overpricing their customers and lie that items are on special. How is possible to be charged 218.75 on vat that is ridiculous on a serious note. I always buy my groceries at Pick ‘n Pay and have never paid so much vat ever. I am really disappointed with shoprite pricing. I will never ever shop at shoprite ever again.
