Ottimo Kettle disaster

Hi, i bought a Ottiimo kettle in January 2016, and the kettle's element blew yesterday, upon returning it I was informed that it is not under warranty if the element blew - so am i at fault for the product not being able to handle boiling water in the early hours of the morning, (then I was asked whether there was water in the kettle- no i was boiling air at the time) I was told by the Shoprite "customer service''clerk that they need to contact the supplier and find out whether they could indeed exchange the item. I am so dissapointed in Shoprite for the service i received and hope I get a call back about this issue from them.

What is the point of selling a brand with a gaurantee/warranty - the element blowing up is a pure manufacturers fault)

The buyers at Shoprite should discontinue this brand, its not as convenient and effective as the advert you are running on national television, about the brand you are carrying being Ottimo products.
