Not Accepting Old Money
On 26 March I went to buy groceries at Shoprite Pier 14.
I paid with R 100, signed by Mr Mboweni (serial number CB***D). Big was my surprise when the cashier told me that Shoprite does not accept old notes and this one was too old.
I made sure that the note had a watermark and that it was legal tender. However, the note was still declined.
I was advised to exchange the note at a bank.
