invalid warranty void

Purchased cordless cettle with 1 year warranty on 04/07/2015, the cettle simply stopped working, took it back and they said the warranty is void, it was turned on dry, that said, we never used it close to empty and it was supposed to have dry boil protection, so according to me it is still under warranty, but they never intended to help us any further
