Im very angry with their service

On Tuesday the 6th february 2018 I went to shoprite checkers Three rivers as I usually go as this is our family store and we live 1km from the store. Though it now appears that one cannot go to Shoprite three rivers and look around, compare prices, browse around. it appears that if you go and not buy then you have ****** something. I went over to a baby shelf and took sometime looking at baby items like any mother would. So eventually I decided that No, let me go to pep, on my way out, the security lady pulled me over and said "I want to search you, I then ask why? She replies by saying "you have been standing in one shelf for way too long and did not buy anything therefore you could have ****** something." Is this how shoprite treat their customers now??? Why not just follow me around if need be than to embarrass me in my own neighbourhood in front of my peers. Initially I refused to be searched but also saw that I'm just drawing more attention to myself so a said "go ahead and search me and you better find that, that you looking for.. The reason she gave for insisting to search me is appalling, she said "I'm sorry, its just that too many woman are *****ing, so we can't be too sure who the ***** is". With such treatment why would one want to go back to such a store? what will make me or my family members or even my friends want to go back to shoprite Three Rivers if one is treated like a common ******** because of taking time in one's favourite store and not buying anything.

I felt humiliated and feels that more should be done to protect customers from such bullies of securities. If you suspect I stole something, make sure I stole something, don't assume because you are then degrading me and chasing me away from the store.

To those that have not yet experienced this unfortunate incident, please stay away or just go in and buy then go, don't stroll around, don't browse for things that you might need later on, rather go to other welcoming stores like Spar or Checkers.
