Expired things

On the 17/07/2019 went to buy somethings and also bought nestle chocolate log and go on my way home decide to check expiring date, to my surprise best before date its 28/02/2018. Bare in mind that kids love chocolates and how many kids have bought it? How come keep things that are over a year expired and what other things that are in their store that are old? I am not sure if it's all shoprite stores or only Zola South Naledi who sell expired food or its because it's us blacks who buy there and they feel like they can keep and sell expired food to us.
