Expired products sale

Today my husband went to shoprite rondabult to buy some groceries,and he came across Kerrygold mature cheddar cheese being sold at R10.40 which is a manager special price, so my husband bought two of them. When he got home I investigated the two products he bought and realised that the price tags are on both sides of the cheese covering the name of the product and the expiry date of the product.According to the sell by date of the manager special price tag the items are to be sold by 03/08/22 and when I gentley removed the price tag gently of both products the expiry dates of each of them is 28/05/2022 and today it's 02/08/22 this shows the products are way past their expiry date. I'm shocked that the ShopRite is currently selling the cheese to ppl whereas they long overdue their expiry date, I mean how could they do something so appalling? Is this even allowed
