Expired food

I bought baby food at Shoprite Meadowlands East, Soweto.

I noticed the expiry date was changed with a black marker. Original date: 2025 Changed to: 2028

I have photo proof. This is ***** and puts babies at risk of food poisoning.

I reported to the manager. He dismissed me and said "it's fine".

I emailed Shoprite Head Office *** and CC'd the National Consumer Commission. NCC email bounced but Shoprite received it. No response from Shoprite to date.

Selling expired baby food is ******* under the Foodstuffs Act and Consumer Protection Act. Changing expiry dates is ******** *****.

I demand: 1. Immediate removal of ALL baby food from shelves for inspection 2. Disciplinary action against the manager 3. Public apology 4. Proof that stock was destroyed

Babies in Soweto deserve safe food. Shoprite is endangering our children for profit.

I have escalated to NCC via online form and will contact City Press if no action in 24hrs.
