EMBARRASSING TREATMENT BY STAFF

On the 7 of January 2024 at approximately 13:27 I was at Shoprite Liquor Store at Khayelitsha Mall to buy something to drink. I notice that the product I was buying have a competition running where you have to buy it and swipe your extra savings card, unfortunately at that time I didn’t have my extra savings card as my visit to Shoprite liquor was unplanned. On my arrival at your pay point I humble asked the cashier to punch in my ID number on the system as I didn’t have my card with me, the cashier by the name of Siyabonga Mali took an extra savings card that was laying in front of one of the tills, as he was about to swipe this card on my transaction I told him that I would rather give him my ID number as this is for competition purpose, that is when I started to look stupid in front of everyone that was in the store at that moment. Siyabonga asked his colleague that was wearing a red golf shirt written FAKU if she heard what I said, he then told his colleague that “this lady says Shoprite have competition so she want to give me her ID number for extra savings” and FAKU’s response was that oh they want to win but they don’t bring their cards with, in a split second a lady that was busy filling up the counter behind them said “what winning? There will never be winnings in this Shoprite they are wasting their time, winnings are only for whites “, the three of them now kept on about this competition thing FAKU even said that system will not accept the ID No. I gave the ID No. to Siyabonga who was not even paying his attention as I was giving him my ID No. I was not surprised when he told me that system is not accepting the ID No. I didn’t wanna ask anything further as I was already disappointed and feeling so embarrassed, I paid and I left the store. Now my question is, is that how Shoprite trains the staff to treat customers like that? I Shoprite knows that competitions are for whites why are they advertised in a area where 99% of customers are black.
