DO NOT GET A JOB AT SHOPRITE
I app**** for a job at the Wyckoff ShopRite in NJ. I'm 15 but I was still able to send my application through and I got called in for an interview and they were aware of my age. I called the store a few days later to find out if I got the job or not and I didn't even get to speak to the person I interviewed with. Anyway, the hiring manager told me I couldn't be hired until I'm 16 and I cannot complete my working papers until I'm 16 either. But I went to my high school's website and I can fill them out at 15 the only restriction with my age is how many hours I am allowed to work. I also researched the laws in NJ and the technical legal minimum working ge is 14 with he exception of a few things that do not include stores like ShopRite. I should have been able to work there even though I'm 15 as long as I filled out my working papers and got permission from my employer to get my working permit. So then I called corporate and the representative was very rude and sent me to call some other number. I called the number and the person on the phone was even more rude and directed me to ANOTHER number. The person didn't even answer so I hung up. I am going to be 16 in January and I am not going to apply to ShopRite again. It is sad because the person I interviewed with was actually really nice and I would have loved to work in an environment with him, but after speaking to so many rude people over the phone I refuse to work for the company.
