Disgusting Service from Shoprite Commissioner Street Boksburg on Heritage Day by manager Chantel Smith and Team

I write to express my disappointment from Chantel Smith Manager at Shoprite Boksburg along Commissioner street on Heritage Day 24th of September 2016. I went to this Shoprite as a regular customer to buy some groceries which were on special. I was in company of my wife and my daughter. We chose what we wanted and the problem started when we were told by the Cashier that we can not have more than 3 Tins of Tuna fish as they were limited to 3 tins per person. I told the Cashier that we are 3 and since we are 3 can we not have 9 cans of Tuna (3 each x 3 people) and ring the bill once since I was paying with a credit card and I wanted just one transaction to go through my credit card so as to avoid swipe bank charges. Each Tuna tin was R6.00 x 3 cans = R18.00 so I was told that I was allowed to swipe my card 3 times something which did not make sense to me that I have to swipe my credit card in the same shop an amount of R18.00 three times. I asked the cashier to call the Supervisor to assist. I explained to the Lady Supervisor and she said it cant not be done with an attitude and I was using english all along as I cant speak local venecular languages and she was talking back to me in Zulu which I fully did not understand. I told the Supervisor that I cant hear what she is saying and she gave me such a sucking attitude until I saw that I am not winning with her and I asked for a manager and Chantal Smith came and she was also mixing English and Zulu. Chantal Smith was so aggresive and RUDE to us and so bostful that she is the manager and she can not do anything to assist us. She could not even help us but instead teamed up with her staff against us. I told her to stop using Zulu and she did not even wanted to listern to my side of story as she kept on raising her voice on us. After a very long argument I noticed that my other 6 Tuna Cans were not on the till anymore, I asked why they have been removed and I told the lady Supervisor that i need them back as my wife will buy 3 and my daughter the other 3 and again the supervisor just looked at me with such a sucking attitude as if she was not hearing me until I insisted that a manager has to do something. Again Chantel Smith was not acting on my problem to have the 6 cans brought back to the till so that my wife and daughter can buy 3 cans each. I had to tell them that I am not going to leave the shop until someone brings back the 6 Tuna cans. All this time Chantal Smith was just arguing with us. I waited for some time and later on the 6 cans were brought to the till. I told the Cashier that she can ring the till as my wife will buy 3 and my daughter the other 3 cans but she told me that she can not do so without authorisation from her manager, something I did not understand why authorisation was needed to buy 3 cans of Tuna for R18.00 to my wife and another R18.00 for 3 cans for my daugther. So we had to wait again to have this authorised. This type of service really horified me and I am so dissapointed that I was treated in such a bad way. I did not even get an apology but Chantel Smith as she was so Bossy telling me that I can report her with an attitude and raising her voice on us.

My wife finally paid by cash for 3 cans and my daughter same thing but to me this could have been avoided and resolved in a more peacefull way than fighting.

Swiping a Credit Card an amount of R18.00 three times is unreasonable as the bank charges will be more that the purchase, so why having such specials that will cost more that the so called specials. I do understand that shops have the right to reserve and control or limit products on special BUT please value your policies on specials before you advertise them as not every customer uses cash when buying. Why would credit card swipes cost more than the product on specials?

Managers and Supervors should assist and listen to customers in a friendly way than being so aggressive and defensive. Customer Care in retail in very important as we all should be treated like human beings with respect.

I dont think Chantel Smith has got management s****s at all including her supervisor, they might be good in your shop but they were very rude to us and not helpful at all.

My Heritage Day was spoiled and this all happened just before closing time. Doors for the shop were even closed whilst we were trying to resolve this. Our time was wasted just because of management failing to resolve R6.00 x 9 Tuna Cans = R54.00

I hope Senior Management will review this and get back to me.

Angry Customer

Marvellous
