Consumer Warning

<p>Checkers Vergelegen Plein is a consumer’s worst nightmare. Their specialty appears to be that the Till Price regularly exceeds the Shelf Price by between R10 and R50.</p> <p>During this year only I have had 5 such incidents, the worst discrepancy was last week when an electronic kitchen scale went for R50 more at the Till than on the Shelf!</p> <p>CONSUMERS BEWARE – CHECK YOUR TILL SLIPS!</p> <p>This week the Shelf/Till discrepancy on a Twin Pack AAA Batteries was R10. I pointed this out to a Supervisor. But that is not what prompts this disclosure – YOU WON’T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!</p> <p>The original shelf label was removed (in my absence) and replaced by another, matching the Till Price – except that on closer scrutiny this ‘replacement’ was for AA batteries! The original AAA label had completely disappeared.</p> <p>Is this *****? I wouldn’t know, but the CCTV footage confirms – someone had swapped labels to avoid a R10 refund.</p> <p>Incidentally, this post was not my first recourse. I had e-mailed said ********** behavior to Shoprite Checkers directly, but it was swept under the rug – or so they thought!</p> <p>CONSUMERS BEWARE – CHECK YOUR TILL SLIPS at Checkers Vergelegen Plein!</p>
