Complaint

On Wednesday, 20th July at about past 17:00, I went to Shoprite in Site B, Khayelitsha making the travel booking for my 10 years daughter who was in Johannesburg for the school holiday. I wanted to book Eldo Coaches Bus for her to be transported from Johannesburg to Cape Town, I was assisted by the cashier, by the name of Amanda and I gave her my daughter's date of birth and afterwards she gave me the ticket. The following day after the booking was made, my daughter went to Park Station in Johannesburg with a hope of going home and to her surpise she was told that she is not allowed to be transported by Eldo Coaches as she is under age, she should be accompanied by the parent or person who is older than her.

As same day as this, I went back to Shoprite and informed the cashier who assisted me with the booking that my daughter was not allowed to be transported on her own due to her age, then the cashier called the store manager to deal with this issue. Then the store manager called Eldo Coaches and explained the problem of booking if they could refund me, unfortunately she was being told that it is not Eldo's fault as their terms and conditions stipulate that under age children are not allowed to be transported on their own without accompanied by the parents and it's shoprite's fault to do such booking. I have decided to bring this to your attention and hoping that you'll be able to intervene in this regard. I feel that Shoprite should take responsibility of my money (R450) which was forfeited as the cashier was not supposed to do the bus booking whereas she knows the terms and conditions of the Eldo Coaches. I would like Shoprite to refund my money that is forfeited by Eldo Coaches as it's the cashiers fault to do the bookings of the under age child as she deals with the bookings almost everyday
