Checkers House and Home - unable to deliver or answer for their failure

We have ordered 4 freezers online from the Checkers House and Home website. We were promised delivery last week, which never materialised. Today, after being pushed from pillar to post, I eventually got through to a human whom confirmed none of the freezers I have ordered are not in stock. I was promised a call back within a hour which of course did not happen and when I tried to call back, no response. I would like to understand how it is possible that this store is allowed to advertise that they have stock and now cant delivered after they have received their payment? This stock is required to use in a shop that was due to be opened this week, which can now not happen? Who will cover the financial loss we have incurred due to Checkers inability to deliver on their own commitments?
