Buying of old food

My husband went to shoprite to buy meat for supper, he purchased a spatch**** chicken and a few extra items from the butchery within Shoprite. The expiry date on the chicken stated the 18th of July 2015, upon frying the chicken we established that the chicken is old. The use of old meat and spicing it does not disguise the fact that the meat is still old. This could have harmed my entire family of 6 if we did not pick up the foul smell it has when taking it out of the oven. I am very disappointed as this is not the first time this have experienced this however it is the first time i am complaining about it. My family and i spend over R3000 a month on groceries from Shoprite every single month as we find it cost effective and more value for my money that is why is this is a real disappointment for me. I am sitting with chicken that is fried, smelling extremely off which i have to take back to Shoprite which is an extreme inconvenience for me as i make use of public transport. Please understand my frustration as i will only be able to go after work, which means i have to carry this foul smelling chicken around with me the entire day at work.
