BEWARE Shoprite Prices Differ From Shelf toTill
I went into the Shoprite at The Gables in Ezulwini Valley, Swaziland to buy Christmas presents for my boys. I picked up a two boxes of Transformer/Lego toys. These were priced at R49.99 each. When the purchase was rung up the price was more than three times for each item. I called on the managers and took them to the shelves where all the items (same as mine) had the shelf price of R49.99. In total contravention of the Consumer Protection Act they insisted that I pay the price at the till point which I refused to do. When I consulted the local police station I was told that this is how Shoprite conducts business: prices on the shelves are not the same as the prices at the till points. I have reported this practice to the Head Office and I am currently awaiting their action.
