Bad customer service

We bought a Dstv remote from Shoprite Gatesville and when we opened it at home the remote didn't work. On return of the remote management Fazile Brinkhusi advices that we can't return it because it has been opened. She said that we should have tested the remote before opening the plastic but the batteries for the remote is next too it which is clear that the remote cannot be tested without the batteries being put into the device. The management at Shoprite Gatesville is ***********, rude, they can't treat customers fairly and does not know the return policies of the products they sale. Which we as customers are aware of return policies. She dropped the line on me and told me to phone Shoprites head office.
