An American-Style Dream? More like a Nightmare!

bought a tub of American Parlor Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream from my local ShopRite here in Kagiso, hoping for a taste of something special. What I got was a massive disappointment.

First, the appearance was all wrong. The ice cream had a strange, dull, purplish-grey colour, not the rich, fruity blue you'd expect. It was covered in a network of icy frost and had shrunk away from the sides of the tub, which immediately made me think it had thawed and been refrozen.

The taste was even worse. Instead of a fresh, creamy blueberry and cheesecake flavour, it tasted artificial and stale. The "blueberry" swirl was sickly sweet with a chemical aftertaste, and the "cheesecake" base had a weird, slightly sour note, as if it was on the verge of turning. The promised biscuit pieces were nowhere to be found, probably lost in the grainy, unpleasant texture.

For the price, I expected a quality treat, but this felt like a waste of money. I've had much better, creamier ice cream from other local brands. I won't be buying this "American Parlor" again. My advice? Spend your rands elsewhere.
