Accused of shoplifting

<p>On Thursday, 4 May 2017 at 08.30 I was shopping at Shoprite, Samora Machel Street, in Nelspruit. I put all my shopping in a shopping bag and went to the hardware section to get a picture frame. I had a piece of paper, the size of the frame needed, in my handbag which I took out to compare sizes. I found the frame needed and put it into my shopping bag and I put the piece of paper back into my handbag, not wanting to just throw it onto the floor. I proceeded to the cashiers and paid cash for all my shopping. When I was on my way out two security guards grabbed me by my arms and took me to a room next to the cigarette counter. A female security guard asked me to empty my handbag as I was rudely accused of shoplifting.</p> <p>Obviously they found nothing and without an apology send me on my way. I am a 73 year old woman and was very upset and in tears. I went back to the shop in the afternoon and complained to a manager, Felicia, about my treatment as all the staff know me after 20 years of shopping at that branch.</p> <p>Somebody from the risk management company that handels their security phoned me from their headoffice and told me that they will come to Nelspruit to sort out the problem. However, now after 10 days, I have heard nothing more from them.</p> <p>Elizabeth Neethling.</p>
