A very disappointing ShopRite experience

This is concerning ShopRite in Pietermaritzburg,Raisethorpe. It was grant payouts. Not knowing it was Grant payouts, I stepped in the store to buy shaving blades. I joined the queue right at the back of the Aisle . Believe it or not; it was the shortest queue. I waited about an hour just to get to the teller. When I arrived at the teller, the cashier asked the gentleman who joined the queue at the same time as me if he was there for payouts. He said that he wasn't. I also said that I wasn't there for payouts. The teller told us that we were holding things up because this queue was only there for grant payouts. I asked her to put up a sign that stated that her till was for grant payouts only. She pointed to a sign that AT THE TILL POINT stating that it was for grant payouts. I tried to explain to the cashier that we joined the queue at the back of the aisle, and waited an hour to get to where we were, and that they should mark the queue as grant payouts at the back so that customers know that the queue is exclusively for grant payouts. She became very arrogant asking if it was the first time I was in the store. In return; I arrogantly rep**** that it was my first time in the store. She arrogantly rep**** "it shows", trying to make me look stupid. I complained to the manager, who I could tell took my issue lightly. So I ask ShopRite: if it was my first time in y'all's Pietermaritzburg Raisethorpe branch: Was it right for me to join an unmarked queue at the back? Was it right for me and the gentleman in front of me to wait an hour to pay for an item each? was it right for me to reach the teller, only to hear that I was in the wrong queue? What was I supposed to do: join another queue (that wasn't moving any faster than the queue I was in) and start right at the back and waste another hour for a pack of shaving blades? Did I have to experience such arrogant behavior for joining a queue that was unmarked at the back? Why wasn't the express till at the front operational: I only had shaving blades to pay for? If it were my first time at the store, was this the way I should be treated.? I make no mention of the cashier's name because I don't want to get her fired...but I do want customers of the ShopRite Raisethorpe branch to have a better experience than I did. This means teaching your staff to know when someone is making sense. If the queue was marked as "grant payouts" when I was looking for a queue to join, I would have not joined that queue. I just joined the shortest queue only to wait an hour to find that it was grant payouts. Please tend to y'all's obvious confusion at that branch. Am I wrong for expecting a higher degree of service?
