I am formally lodging a complaint regarding an incredibly frustrating experience and poor customer service at the Shoprite Tembisa Plaza branch (Shop 13, Corner Andrew Mapheto Drive and Dan Nkabinde Drive, Esangweni, Tembisa). The Incident:On Saturday, 25 July 2026, at approximately 11:01 AM, I paid for my groceries at Till 5. The funds were successfully deducted from my bank account. I showed the clear banking transaction notification to the staff, but the till point failed to print a physical receipt.Management Negligence:The cashier reported the issue to the manager on duty, Dennis Phokomosane. Instead of coming to assist, Dennis simply instructed the cashier to reboot the machine. The cashier rebooted the system three times while I stood waiting, entirely ignored by management. I was forced to cause a disruption just to get someone to speak to me.When Dennis finally approached, he merely repeated the reboot process. I was then told I could not leave with my paid groceries. Shockingly, I was told that if I wanted my items, I would have to pay a second time at a different till. The Follow-Up Negligence:On Sunday, 26 July 2026, I received a follow-up call from Dennis. He confirmed that the transaction is reflecting on Shoprite's side. However, he stated that because the transaction still shows as "pending" on my banking app, he will not help me. This makes absolutely no sense. If the transaction reflects on Shoprite's system, the store has received authorization for the funds. My Demand:I have paid for these essential goods, the funds have left my account, and I have been left without both my money and my groceries due to a technical system failure on Shoprite's end. I demand that Shoprite regional management reviews this incident, contacts me immediately, and either releases my groceries or processes an instant refund.

I was at Shoprite Liquor at Tembisa Plaza on the 19th of January with my sister . As we waited in line to pay for the items we intended on buying which also took very long might I add. We uncounted grave disrespect and disregard by the staff there particularly the manager of the store. The staff were playing music loudly to an extent that we couldn’t even hear anything. The lady at the counter was calling us to pay and because of the loud music we couldn’t hear. The manager, started shouting at us in her language using her body language in an intimating way ‘saying can’t we see that she’s calling us, move with the line’. I addressed the way we were treated with the cashier assisting us that we are not happy about how we were shouted at and we would like the ladies name so we can report the horrible service. The cashier refused to provide it. We then asked for the manager, where we were informed that the lady who was shouting at us was the manager and she’s wearing a name tag. We asked the manager for her name as she was actually not wearing the name tag as we were informed. She refused. She even refused to apologies. I am shocked to see such and have never experienced such lack of leadership and customer retention qualities. I would recommend no one to the store. In fact it just needs to be shut down entirely. Shoprite just hires anyone without checking whether they are fit to actually do the job
