Lack of customer service

Good day My name is Linah M ,I went to Shoprite at Mall of the South on the 19th of December 2024. I was gifted a checkers gift card and I also had Old Mutual points to use at Shoprite.

My Total came to R260.52.When paying I asked the cashier to process R150 using the Old Mutual points and the balance to be paid using my checkers gift card. However, I noticed that I did not get any xtra saving discounts despite using my xtra save card.

I was advised by the cashier that I do not qualify for any discounts because I was using a voucher but I do not understand how that is possible because I have been using my gift card at Checkers and still getting the discounts, so why is it different with Shoprite? At the back of the gift card it does show that the card can be used at Shoprite.

The Shoprite employee Koketso Nkomo that was assisting me with this was extremely rude and disrespectful. He said to me that I can either take the groceries or leave it. I do not think that that is the correct way to speak to a customer. At the end of the day, it is still my money being spent at Shoprite irrespective of the manner I wish to pay and I do not understand how I dont get any discounts because before paying the discounts would have been deducted.

I left the store without my groceries and with my points being used. I am extremely upset and dissatisfied with the manner in which I was treated at Shoprite Mall of the South.
