Disrespected.
I’m deeply angry and humiliated by the shocking service I received at Shoprite Langa today. 02.08.2025
I went there to buy a few things and asked to withdraw R500 before paying. The first cashier told me to go to the next till. The next one did the same — sending me around — only for the last cashier to finally say the cash send system isn’t working. Then they told me to go to the liquor store.
At the liquor store, I explained clearly to Lihle Madikwa that I needed to withdraw R500. His response? “Wena ufuna malini?” I repeated I needed R500, and he rudely said, “Limit is R500.” I asked when this started because before I withdrew more, and he snapped back: “Sundibuza ndiyakuxelela.”
When I explained politely that another guy helped me before, he sarcastically told me: “Go to that person who helped you.” I asked again why he was speaking to me like this, and his reply was: “Angekhe undenze niks”
This all happened in front of other staff members who stood and watched, doing nothing to calm him down. I felt completely humiliated, angry, and disrespected as a loyal customer, treated like I came to beg.
I left them speaking to go report to Mr Mafa, the branch manager, because I was so furious I didn’t want to say or do something I’d regret.
@Shoprite South Africa / @Shoprite Head Office this is completely unacceptable!
Ndihlazeke ngathi ndiyocela. How do you allow staff to treat paying customers like this? I expect this matter to be taken seriously.
