Poor quality no refund

Bought a pair of shoes a week ago from Shoe City Somerset West had to take them back a week later as they started pulling loose. Since the store had nothing else suitable I requested a refund but was denied since I didn't have a till slip. So even if the store management (Gavin) acknowledges and accepts that the product is sub standard and theirs, they are more than happy to keep your money and force you to take another substandard Chinese product since I don't have a piece of paper. Kinda feels like I am been ****** here.
