Behaviour of Staff
On the 14th of November 2025, at around 2:30, I went to Shoe City MetLife Plaza, to return a shoe I had purchased. Upon my arrival to the store, there where other customers in the store and there was just one staff member at the front of the store, but no staff member at the cash desk. After a few minutes of waiting and noticing no one was coming to assist and a customer joining the queue behind me, I went to the staff member at the front of the store to ask for assistance. She walked towards me and as we walked together to the cash desk, I explained to her, that I would like to make a return, she checked the shoe and all was good. I then proceeded to hand her the slip. She took one look at it and said they would not be able to do the return, based on the fact that, the slip I had in my hand was the eft slip and not the actual slip, and then proceeded to call the manager. By now, the other customers were making their way to the cash desk as well. I asked if there was any way to assist, as I made the purchase on my account, at their store, and I had the eft slip, surely, they could pick up the transaction. The manager proceeded to scream at me, in front of all the other people standing around, telling me that they are not allowed and then pointed to a sign on the desk, telling me the sign is there for us to read and us people must learn to read, that is why the sign is up. Already embarrassed, I said thank you to the manager and stated that I will return to the store, if this is how they treat their customers, to which the manager rep****, “Thank You”. I did respond by telling her she had a cheek to say that to a customer. Can you please advise if your staff, especially the store managers, have training in customer relations and tact. Can you please advise where screaming and shouting at a customer is acceptable? Do we come to your store to spend our money, so we can be abused and embarrassed? If the manager handled the situation calmly and with tact, we would have found the receipt required at that the bottom of the box, and this complaint would not have been necessary. Also bear in mind, other retail groups, go the extra mile to assist their clients, even it means finding the receipts and printing them out, so the issue can be resolved. Extremely disappointed, with the attitude of your staff. Please Training your managers.
