Terrible workplace
5months ago i started working for the shell Amahlubi service station in gugulethu Cape Town as a cashier. First of all, the shell is managed by a couple, the lady who is the bosses girlfriend does not have any managerial skills, she has never worked at any other place and does not have experience , people skills and she is very rude. When she talks to employees, she bangs the table and shouts. Eversince i started working there, we work a full 12 hours and sometimes 13 hours, you work alone for a full day, no lunch hour, tea break or toilet break. We got paid for 12 hours instead of 13hours and when you question this, the boss is aggressive. He speaks to us whatever way he chooses. We get paid by hand and not in our bank accounts. With covid 19 we are told to sanitise our hands, but there we eat as we work because there is no lunchbreak, so we touch the cash and eat with the same hands without washing them. The working conditions there are soo terrible, sometimes there is not even toilet paper in the toilets. Last week friday i resigned, and expected my salary on friday, i asked the manager for my salary, and she told me i wont be receiving it if i do not return the uniform, the whole weekend it was raining so i told her i will first wash it mind u its only an old jersey and hat and she told me i will only receive my salary once i return the jersey. I have been bul**** for the 5months i work there, the lady does everything in that service station, from counting coins to managing the cashiers, mind you she does not even know how to work on the tillpoint. Every time i was told my coins are short, but not shown proof, She constantly makes you feel unworthy, and for my mental health i choose to resign, because when i reported her nothing is done by the boss. I am soo hurt and dissapointed by this, i could not take it anymore because we are treated like slaves in that service station. There are soo many things happening there, Shell SA needs to do something about this because they are tarnishing the company name. Many people have stopped working there because of the conditions
