Shell garage in Houghton

On 24 May at about 10.55 I parked my car at the garage to buy a cup of coffee. I locked it, went into the coffee shop, bought a cup of coffee and returned to my car less than 5 minutes later. I drove a few blocks to my office and when I opened the boot of my car I saw that my computer was missing. I went back to the garage and advised management what had happened. They showed me the video recording from a few minutes earlier and we saw a car drive up next to mine, a male emerged from the front passenger's door and tried to open my car's front door but couldn't and then tried to open the boot. He returned to the front door, looked around and then somehow opened my car's front door which he opened, unlocked the boot and went to the back of my car, opened the boot, removed my computer and got into the car and drove off. Management of the service station absolve themselves of any responsibility and the owner has not had the curtesy to even call me despite me having left my phone number with management. I then called Shell customer care and told them what had happened - call ref ********** 71. I was told that someone would contact me. By Monday 28 May I hadn't heard from Shell so I called again and spoke with Loyisa who said someone would contact me. Again nothing. On Wednesday 30 May I called again and spoke with another agent who said that someone would contact me. A while later Shell forwarded me an email from the garage that read: Good day Unfortunately we can not be held liable for theft committed by unknown third parties. Car Jamming is an unfortunate reality and customers should take due care and appropriate measures to ensure safety of their valuables. The CCTV shows that the customer does not even take any steps to ensure that his vehicle was actually locked. Regards Mohammed Seedat Glenhove Shell

In fact the CCTV does NOT show that the customer 'does not even take any steps to ensure that his vehicle was actually locked.

EXACTLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY SON A YEAR WHEN HIS COMPUTER WAS ****** FROM THE BOOT OF HIS CAR AT THE SAME GARAGE AND THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER THEFTS FROM CUSTOMER'S CARS AT THIS SERVICE STATION. Yet management has taken not action to provide security for customers who visit the garage and has not upgraded the CCTV cameras to capture the registration numbers of cars parked at the garage.
