Shell Garage Campground Road

In the mood for something sweet, I drove to the Shell Garage on Campground Road earlier this evening. I settled on a brownie (price clearly marked at R26.00) and the friendly and humorous sales assistant kindly placed one in a packet for me. It looked so good I could almost taste it!

On reaching the payment counter a few seconds later, I was informed by a brusque and decidedly less friendly assistant that the price of said brownie had increased to R33.50 over the course of the few seconds it took to walk to the payment counter.

I pointed out that the marked price was R26.00. The assistant insisted that I had to pay the increased price if were to have any hope of enjoying that brownie. I know this is ******* and that I could insist on paying the marked price, but being 8:30pm I just couldn't be bothered to argue about it.

On principle, I decided to forego that brownie. Unsurprisingly, that experience has left a rather bitter taste. I will not be returning - for any reason.
