Shell garage

I had a terrible experience this morning at the Shell Lambton Gardens garage. I came in to pour petrol into the car as the petrol was running low. I drove for about two km only to find that the kilometre reading of the petrol I had poured had not registered so I drove back to the garage to raise my issue. The supervisor gave me various aimless excuses such as the petrol belongs to Shell and not to him so he can’t control what happens, he then proceeded with trying to convince me that the issue is with my car and there was no issue on their end, the manner in which he spoke to me made me feel as though he was talking down to me as he kept on repeating that the car came in with petrol that was low and that I poured too little petrol. I found this insensitive given the current economic status in South Africa and the petrol prices. He further went on to say if the car gets stuck then only will he pay me the amount I paid for the petrol which he said in cynical and condescending manner. I am now in a position whereby my petrol is even less than it was when I went to the garage and the money I had allocated for a refill is no longer available but there is nothing to show for it. I am unaware of whether this is a common practice throughout all branches or if this happened to me at this garage because I am a black female. Nonetheless I will no longer be using the services of this garage and I will be sure to inform anyone who cares to listen to do the same. The experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I wouldn’t have given any star given the option.
