SHELL FILLUP THAT HAS LEAD TO HELL
I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the handling of a fuel contamination issue I experienced at Shell Hemingways, East London, and the subsequent complete lack of response from both Shell SA and Shell Hemingways. On September 25, 2024, I filled my newly purchased Mahindra Scorpio pickup(3 weeks old)with V-Power fuel at Shell Hemingways. After travelling back home a few days later the vehicle began to misfire at the time i had driven just over 350 km , and had half a tank of fuel remaining. I immediately took the vehicle to MMG Mahindra in Mthatha, where Mahindra SA got involved and determined that a fuel issue had likely damaged the injectors. They sent a fuel sample for testing to WEARCHECK in Johannesburg. The test results, finally received on October 31, 2024, confirmed that the fuel failed to meet SANS 342:2016 standards, citing "unacceptably high" water content and visible debris. I promptly forwarded these results to Thulisa Potwana at Shell Hemingways, who promised to escalate the matter to senior management but they failed to follow through. Despite multiple attempts to contact Shell Hemingways and Shell SA, I received no response from either party. I was eventually forced to reach out to the forecourt owner and staff, including Vuyiswa Maputa, only to be met with dismissive responses. Shell Hemingways claimed they had no other reported incidents, and failed to address the test results or offer any explanation. Additionally, they refused to provide any written communication or a formal response, despite my repeated requests. My Insurance brokers timeously made attempts to engage with Mr Mava Mkukuwana, Ms Vuyiswa Maputa and Thulisa Potwana all leading to zero communication or acknowledgment of liability. They also failed to provide their insurance details so that a claim could be made for the damage. This inaction and lack of accountability has resulted in significant financial losses for my business, as the vehicle in question is critical to our operations. The failure of Shell and Shell Hemingways to address this issue in a timely, professional, and transparent manner is both frustrating and damaging. I am demanding immediate compensation for the damages incurred, and a formal apology from both Shell SA and Shell Hemingways. It is unacceptable that a multinational company of Shell's stature would ignore such a serious matter and provide no support or resolution
