Shell Batho Pele - watch out for them

My wife filled up at this filling station a while back. The slip read that the car had taken 62 litres, although the cars specification states that it only has a 50 litre tank.

The petrol light had just come on, which meant that there should still be about 7 to 10 litres in the tank. When approaching the manager, she told us she would need to investigate the matter, which was fair enough.

After a few days we hadn't heard from her, so we phoned her only to be told that the car could, in fact take 62 litres because it had a second 'reserve' tank.

After trying to argue with the manager for a while, it was clear that she was not listening to reason, so I left it there.

My wife's car needed petrol again yesterday. She drove the car for a day with the petrol light on, much more than before. When filling the car at a larger, Engen filling station, it took 49 litres.

It looks like the Shell Batho Pele filling station is doing something strange at their tanks and I would like to warn fellow consumers to be aware of this
