Paying for fuel that was never filled!!
On Monday evening my husband and I went to Shell Hannaford Phoenix to fill fuel. We had 1/4 petrol in the car and asked for R200 fuel to be filled the fuel gauge never moved! We are driving a Grand i10 1.2l, on request of the manager he says sometimes the cars take a while for the fuel gauge to move. After idling the car for around 30mins, he suggested to drive around for abit, we drove around the garage and there was no difference. I suggested to fill R100 at another pump and we noticed the R100 fuel filled but for certain there was not R300 fuel in the car. When I advised the manager that I cannot pay for something that I do not have he says the onus is upon him and the petrol attendant to pay R200. I could not leave the garage without paying and someone else to pay, I paid although the petrol didn’t reflect in my car and contacted Shell SA the next morning. They advised me to contact the owner and liaise with him, I contacted him and he advised that this was the first he heard about it and says the fuel was definitely filled or the pump won’t run.
I did advise him that I know it happened to someone else prior. I did say to him that with my 1/4 tank fuel and if there was R300 filled the tank would have definitely been almost full as the car has a small tank. I did request to see the video footages on the weekend!
I am sure that the fuel was not filled and there was a glitch. This can be happening to other people, some people do not even look at the gauge after filling trusting the service station only to realize that you can be ******!!
