Messed up car wash

I handed my car in for a wash at the garage, on my return I saw that the paintwork had surface scratches all over. I spoke to both the manager and the owner, who simply refused to take any responsibility and told me that I should proof that the car wasn't previously scratched. It is astounding how the owner simply shrug his shoulders and simply refused to take any responsibility for his staff's actions.
