Furious and Disappointed – Misled and Taken Advantage Of at Shell Midrand Ultra City
On 16 September 2025, I discovered a ***** in my back left tyre and immediately drove to Shell Midrand Ultra City for help. I was assisted by a petrol attendant named Clinton or Clifford(I’m not sure which is the exact name ), who called other attendants to assist. They appeared to remove the *****, acted like they were helping me, but it turns out they were just pretending.
After the **** “help,” they demanded what felt like a ransom payment. I gave R50, not because I was happy with the situation, but because I genuinely thought they helped me. They didn’t even bother to pump the tyre afterward, just left me to drive off with a tyre that was still compromised.
For days, the tyre kept losing air, but I assumed it was just a slow leak. Then on 28 September, I parked my car and saw another ***** in the exact same tyre. I took a picture and compared it to the one from the 16th and to my shock and absolute fury, it was the exact same *****, in the same place, with the same appearance. Clearly, they never removed it. They ****, took my money, and put my safety at risk.
I feel completely taken advantage of, and I can’t help but feel like it was because I’m a woman. They assumed I wouldn’t notice. That I wouldn’t question anything. But I did and now I’m angry, disappointed, and disgusted.
Shell, this is unacceptable. Your staff are out here ****ming customers and pretending to help while leaving people in dangerous situations. What if that tyre had blown out on the road? What if someone had gotten hurt?
I expect a proper investigation, and I want to be contacted regarding this issue. This kind of dishonesty and negligence is not only unprofessional, it’s dangerous.
I will not be using that service station again, and I’ll be warning others to do the same.
