Shaw Academy Web Design is Out of Date and Ignores You

Shaw Academy promised me live video-streaming lessons and "watch later" options. I thought that this was brilliant! But I should have thought about this a bit more before giving them my money (You get the first month free, then you need to pay for the last three months to complete the four-month course.) because my experience has been a terrible one.

I am two-and-a-half months into their Web Design course, and I have nothing good to say. The course content is all over the place. At first, I thought I could watch the live lessons and ask questions to get the most out of what I had paid for. Turns out that these videos that I am being shown were recorded in 2016, so there's no option for joining a live class. Also, no one on the support team could (or would) tell me this; I had to figure this out for myself. And because they are recordings, and because I suspect that this course has been very poorly organised, there have been several repeated sections or whole lessons! No one can (or will) explain to me why this is, despite the bajillion e-mails I have sent.

On that front, I have received no help at all from any of Shaw Academy's support channels for this course. Additional to the mails I mentioned before, and because it is an online learning experience, I have been asking dozens of questions weekly in almost thirty e-mails, and … well, yes, I have received no answers. All I have occasionally gotten is the automated "We've sent your query on to the educators, and they'll get back to you as soon as possible." This use of the phrase ‘as soon as possible’ seems to be mean ‘more than three months’ because I haven't gotten any feedback at all.

I can’t tell you that, by the end of this (sure, I’m going to stick it out because I foolishly paid money for this), I will be able to build a website (though I think not), but what I can tell you is that I would highly recommend you look elsewhere for your web design learning needs.
