I won a free online course with Shaw Academy via the Vodacom app. I checked the courses available and saw something of interest that I wanted to do.i started completing a registration form and was prompted for my banking details in order to receive course material and then never completed the registration. I was then contacted by a Gilmour Grootboom of Shaw Academy with regards to why I have not attended the classes or completed my registration. I raised my concern with regards to why Shaw Academy needed my bank details as the course was free. He stated it was a mere formality and that their system would not dispatch any course material to me without loading bank details, he further assured me that I would not be charged for anything. I then gave him my bank details and he completed my registration.i received confirmation of our conversation and a link for my course details. Then again when I went to the course I was to do it prompted me again for bank details, I contacted Gilmour Grootboom and asked him why it was doing this, he never rep**** and then I decided not to pursue doing the FREE course with Shaw Academy. To my amazement I started receiving emails that Shaw Academy was trying to debit my account for R399 monthly subscription!, I emailed them and asked them to contact me, I was told that they do not call people and I would have to email the support with my query/enquiry. I asked for proof of when I had subscribed to them, I received 2 screenshots that is hieroglyphs to me. Too date Shaw Academy has tried to debit my account 3 times already. In the email confirming that they are attempting to debit my account it states if I want to cancel I can notify them. I rep**** that how can I agree to cancel a subscription that I never agreed too!

I AM TOTALLY AND UTTERLY DISGUSTED BY THE WAY THIS COMPANY OPERATES AND *****ALENT WAY OF GETTING PEOPLE TO SUBSCRIBE TO THEM. I WANT TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE OF THIS ************ WAYS AND LENGHTS THEY WOULD GO TO TO GET SUBSCRIBERS. PLEASE BECAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH SHAW ACADEMY!!!!
