Do not register with Shaw Academy its a ****en ****! *******! *****!

I followed a link on Instagram for a free 4 week course for early child development. The link took all my details, I for some reason filled in my banking details, I didn't think much of it because the course was free.

I carried on with the consideration of actually doing another course after doing the free one just to make sure their material was worthwhile.

Anyways after being aware that the study kit was actually "paid" for, I knew I wanted out.

I received a confirmation sms which gave the option to opt out by sending stop.

Then next day received a call from an agent to further confirm my registration. I told the agent that I was not interested and she said "okay" and hung up.

I checked with my bank and the amount of R499 debited my account.

I called Shaw Academy and spoke to an agent who basically told me there was nothing the billing department was going to do.

So to shut me up I was sent a certificate and a month's free.

He still gave me the email address however.

What these guys don't know, is that in sales we have tricks to keep people's money to make them feel like they got a freebie.

I sent my query to billing... Just read their response. It basically told me that I won't be getting my money back cause I filled out my banking details... However offered me another free certificate, free study material and 3 months free study.

What I do know, is that consumer right allow me the right to get my money back especially because I have not even taken or open any of the stuff they keep trying to send me.

Shaw Academy is so dishonest and tricks people into signing up to courses whilst marketing them as free.

If I cannot be refunded my money then why did they follow the concumer laws by sending me the opt out sms and get thee agent to call me to confirm my registration.

I want my money!
