Avoid this **** of a company or at least use Paypal!!!

I subscribed to Shaw Academy because of a 1 month free trial they were offering and I was interested in their photography course. I quickly realized that the course needed much more time investment than I could do at the moment and it wasn't as flexible a set-up as I had hoped. Unfortunately, I had slipped into the next month so the next month's subscription amount was taken from my Paypal account (of course, this was my fault for not being on top of things). I quickly looked into how to cancel and could not for the life of me find the place on their website that they state in the FAQ section, where you can "easily" cancel your subscription. This was sketchy, but I figured that I'll just solve it by e-mail, which I did. I got a prompt response from their support they had cancelled my subscription (this was in July of 2019). Fast forward to January of 2020, when I got a text message (!?) for an offer to renew my subscription with them. Of course I was not interested, but the message clearly stated to reply STOP if I wanted to opt out. I did reply and thought that was that. In February, I received a Paypal notification that 39.99 euro had been lifted from my account by Shaw Academy! I was furious, so I contacted support. I showed them the text message and my reply, but they said that I had reactivated my account in January and after 1 month free, they had per their T&C rightfully taken the amount for an active subscription in February!!! After about 5 e-mails, all they could come up with were automatic replies that continued to tell me how they cannot refund me, but are willing to offer me 6, then 12 months of free content. I told them in every message that I was not interested at all, but they kept persisting. While this was going on and I was getting nowhere, I turned to Paypal (thank heaven I had paid through them!) and started a dispute. After showing them the e-mails of the cancellation, the text message and my reply, they have ruled in my favor. So even though I cannot tell you about the quality of their courses, please for your sake, avoid this company, because it's really hard to get away from them!!! If you do indeed sign up, make sure you use Paypal and save any email, text you get from them to insure yourself in a dispute!
