A true account of shaw academy

Apparently using the S word is enough to get negative reviews removed from here so I will be much clearer with my experience so there is no doubt about it. (Although I hate spending too much of my time on them when the S word would be sufficient). Their app is glitchy. There response time is excessively slow (although very quick to remove negative reviews, less than 12 hrs!). The accreditation they offer seems unlikely considering the course material, they say equivalent to second year of a degree but I’ve done a degree and it’s not). The courses are non interactive and I’ve found better free on YouTube. Their free trial, of which I completed 2 weeks of a month is impossible to cancel. They take the money and only respond to the cancellation after the money is removed. I’ve seen other reviews where people have had to go the lengths of changing cards to stop them. When you tell them you cancelled within the trial period and show evidence their response exactly is: “I understand that you have tried to cancel your membership within the trial period. However, unfortunately there is no way at all a refund can be processed for you. The issue remains that the terms and conditions were made readily available, you have accepted them and actually inserted payment details for a free trial/subscription service which had subsequent payments related to it, hence the contents were made available in your account which cannot be revoked. We cannot offer a refund in these circumstances.” I can’t find a number to call them. They say they work out of Ireland and all these glamorous places but on LinkedIn a majority of them are in India leaving little option for legal action. I would advise anyone who wants to try them out to carefully consider whether they wish to be lighter in pocket and no better off as their business seems to be set up to give little and take lots. For me it’s a lesson learned and I hope others can learn from my mistakes.
