Too good to be true

<p>My marked and branded vehicle was parked in a bay and noticed by someone who called me from a company called Shatterfix mobile about my cracked windscreen. </p> <p>The consultant was friendly and said they would like to replace my windscreen at no cost as they are affiliated with all major insurance companies and they will handle the claim and paperwork directly with my insurance. They will also come out to my premises at a convenient time and do the replacement. I was surprised and thought this is too good to be true. </p> <p>They requested the name of my insurance company to process the claim as they had already noted my vehcile details when they saw my cracked windscreen. </p> <p>Five days later my windscreen was replaced. </p> <p> </p> <p>A few months later, I get a call from Shatterfix mobile requesting payment from me to the amount of R5,905.32 as the insurance company does not want to pay them. My response was that they said they affiliated with all major insurance companies and they will handle the claim and deal directly with my insurance.</p> <p> </p> <p>A few months later, I receive a letter of demand from an attorney for the windscreen replacement. I contacted her telephonically and she says I am still repsonsible for the bill.</p> <p> </p> <p>What disgusts me is that Shatterfix mobile claims to have affiliations with all major insurance companies yet for some reasons, mine was not prepared to pay them.</p> <p> </p> <p>I am of the opinion that they are not affiliated with all major insurance companies as they claim to be. I strongly suggest and recommend everybody to contact there respective insurance companies first before accepting and believing claims of affiliation by third party companies to major insurance companies. </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
