So I placed an order for some items on Shop Cider or Cider and paid R1.7k for the actual order, by the time it reached SA and after reaching out to Cider to understand who the logistics company was, they advised Sharp Logistics was taking care of delivery. They gave me contact info and so I sent them a mail at the end of December to understand the taxes/duties I needed to pay for the order to be delivered. Mind you, I placed an order with Shein the same day I placed an order with Cider and the difference in customs was hilarious. Sharp rep**** early Jan advising my parcel was over R500 and therefore was considered high value (crazy since it's coming from China and we all know how their quality really is but whatever) they then asked me for some documents (invoice, packing list, ID) all of which I gave them. Tarryn Smith then advised my taxes/duties with a "standard clearance fee" was on an attached invoice amounting to R1.6k. I obviously could not believe it because for the Shein order I placed, I paid R1.1k for the actual order and only R111 for customs to have the parcel delivered to me, which was fulfilled by Buffalo Logistics. The math was not mathing ya'll. Anyways, I googled Sharp Logistics, couldn't find a website but found all these bad reviews dating back to 2017 and found the whole thing just fishy. I asked Tarryn for a link to their website and guess what she tells me, "It's still in process". Right, nearly 6 years worth of complaints meaning your company has been around and you guys cant get around to creating a website....That coupled with the fact that their company header looks like a 14 year old did it on MS word with logo of a man that can easily be found through a google image search (you know those white icon little men either posing with a thumbs up or question on their head) I asked her to try again, as in try again to explain the BS of a "standard clearance fee" which is R460 (with VAT). I never hear from them again only to be contacted by Cider themselves and having to give them everything I already gave Sharp. I know SA has it's ********, but the fact that they're allowed to move at such a scale is beyond me. I am done with both these company's. Sharp for thinking they **** South Africans because they're importing goods in a private capacity, and Cider for not doing due diligence on it's logistics partner DPEX who clearly could care less.
