SSDA Attorneys & MTN not updating information nor issuing Paid Up Letter

I'll keep this short & to the point...

March 6th, 2021, after discovering I have a default on my credit report (one that is in fact factually incorrect) from MTN, I contact SSDA Attorneys and ask for a statement of what monies is still outstanding on my MTN account.

March 8th, 2021 I paid the amount, in full, reflected on the statement as full & final settlement of my MTN account. I immediately forwarded my POP to SSDA and requested my paid up letter.

March 9th, 2021 I received a return email from SSDA confirming receipt of my payment, and the information was updated on their end and then they advised me that my paid up letter would only be issued after 21 working days. I questioned this as i was sure it this was not correct. It was insisted that it would take 21 working days.

After this I asked around and checked the NCR website, and confirmed that any paid up debt needs to be registered with all the credit bureaus, by the credit provider, WITHIN 7 DAYS of receipt of payment, along with issuing of paid up letters etc.

Fast forward to March 20th, 2021, following numerous unanswered emails & phone calls that resulted in continuous ringing, holding on forever and then either being cut off or someone picking up and putting down, to both MTN & SSDA, I went into an MTN store and asked if my information has been updated and if my MTN account had been unblocked. I was told that it hadn't and my account was still blocked. Following this visit, I received another email from SSDA informing me that they have now requested a paid up letter from MTN and will get back to me when MTN gets back to them.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I paid my debt in full, and I still have nothing to show for it, and my credit record is still showing a default. This is totally unacceptable and non-compliant with the National Credit Amendment Act No 19 & Regulations. I have now reported this issue to the NCR and highly recommend anyone in the same position with MTN & SSDA Attorneys do the same.
